FAQ

Common questions about Outlap: the AI engineer, garage, circuits, clubs, payments, timing, the API and your account.

The platform

What is Outlap?

A racing platform that helps drivers, clubs and organisers prepare for and run track days, drift events, circuit racing and karting. It combines an AI setup engineer, a global circuit database, weather-aware briefings, a personal garage, club management and ticketing.

Do I need an account?

You can browse public clubs, events, circuits and driver profiles without one. To save setups, register for events, manage a garage or run a club, you need a free account. Sign in with email and password, or Google. Email verification is required before your first sign-in.

Is it free?

Yes. Drivers pay nothing for timing, garage, setups, the circuit database or entering events. Clubs, tracks and teams pay nothing to list events or to have unlimited members and crew. The only fee is 5% of money you collect through Outlap, paid out to your own Stripe account. Drivers who want the live AI race engineer can add Outlap Pro, which is optional and cancels any time.

Which disciplines are supported?

Track days, circuit racing, drifting (including tandem strategy), karting (125+ CIK-FIA and regional venues), open-wheel and closed-wheel categories.

Setups, garage and circuits

How does the AI generate setups?

It combines your vehicle, the circuit, current and forecast weather, surface temperatures, your experience level and, where available, circuit-specific knowledge. It outputs tyre, suspension, aero, gearing and driving-style recommendations with a target lap time. See AI setup engineer.

How accurate are the target lap times?

They’re estimates from circuit benchmarks, vehicle category and your stated experience. Treat them as a goal, not a guarantee.

Can I share a setup?

Yes. Every setup has a public share link and a one-tap WhatsApp share, and can be exported as a print-ready PDF.

Does it work offline?

Event management and your saved setups stay accessible offline and sync when you reconnect. Generating a new AI setup needs a connection.

Who can see my driver profile?

Profiles are public by default at a stable URL. You control which cars and setups are visible. Personal contact details are never shown publicly.

Can I submit a missing circuit?

Yes, with the circuit submission form. We review every submission.

Clubs, events and payments

Can I run my club through Outlap?

Yes. Clubs get an admin dashboard, member management (including paid memberships), event creation with capacities, sessions and groups, leaderboards, document storage and committee tools.

How do paid tickets work?

Connect Stripe through Stripe Connect. Attendees pay through Outlap, payouts go straight to you, and Outlap takes 5% of money collected. See Tickets & payouts.

What about waivers?

Each registration captures an immutable snapshot of the waiver text. Use the default or supply your own. See Waivers.

Can I sell tickets on another site?

Yes. Events support an external ticketing URL, and attendees see a banner directing them there.

Can I embed events on my website?

Yes: event lists, join forms, registration cards and a track calendar. See Embeds.

Timing

Which timing systems work?

MyLaps Orbits, MyLaps Trackside / X2 and AxWare live, any RMonitor relay, and any results CSV by import. See Integrations overview.

Can I use my phone to time laps?

Yes. See Phone lap timer. A RaceBox gives up to 25 Hz GPS on supported browsers.

Which data loggers can I import from?

Racelogic VBOX, AiM, RaceChrono, TrackAddict and Garmin Catalyst, plus any CSV or GPX with GPS or a lap list. See Data loggers.

Developers

How do I authenticate to the API?

With a Bearer API key from your club’s settings. See Authentication.

What are the rate limits?

For laps, penalties and session changes: 120 requests a minute and 3,000 an hour per key. For streams: 300 a minute. Public reads: 600 a minute per IP. See Rate limits.

Are there OpenAPI specs?

Yes: OpenAPI specs.

Can I use Outlap from an AI assistant?

Yes, over MCP. See MCP server.

Account and safety

Is motorsport dangerous?

Yes. Outlap exists to help you prepare, but it can’t remove risk. Always follow your organiser’s safety briefing.

Does Outlap take responsibility for my driving?

No. Outlap provides information and tools. You’re solely responsible for your own driving, your vehicle and your compliance with event rules.

How do I delete my account or unsubscribe?

Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. To delete your account, contact support and we’ll remove your data.

Where do I get support?

See Support. We aim to reply within one working day.
