Race Control
The organiser's console for an event day: the board, lap entry, timing sources and fixes, plus session control and transponder mapping.
Race Control is where you run the timing for an event. Open it from the event page: Live timing → Open Race Control. It’s designed for a phone or tablet at the line as much as a desktop.
The four sections
| Section | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Board | See the live standings as the public sees them, with a scope switch for what the board shows. |
| Log laps | Enter or edit laps by hand, import a results file, and review the lap-edit history. |
| Timing | Connect a timing system, manage transponders and numbers, approve phone-timing requests and watch the feed’s health. |
| Fixes | Correct mistakes: assign unmatched laps, invalidate laps, adjust times, add penalties. |
A badge on Timing shows phone-timing requests waiting for your approval.
Connect a timing system
-
Open Timing → Connect timing. It walks you through the steps for your system and fills the commands in.
-
Turn on the output in your timing software. See Orbits, Trackside / X2 or AxWare.
-
Download the bridge to the timing PC, create a key, and run the one command shown. See Timing bridge.
-
Watch the Live feed panel. It shows the feed’s status, when it was last seen, and how many laps it has delivered. It turns green when laps flow.
Transponders & numbers
Laps are matched to drivers by transponder, then car number, using the roster on the event’s Paddock tab.
- Drivers who saved their transponder and race number in their garage are already filled in.
- Add hire units on the day.
- Laps from unknown transponders are still recorded. Assign them later under Fixes.
Control sessions
Mark each session scheduled, live or finished. The public board updates as you go. The same actions are available over the API: Update session status.
No live link?
Use Import timing in Log laps to load a results file after each session. See File import. Don’t have a timing system at all? Phone timing and a marshal’s phone can fill in.
Exports
Export results and timing reports from the timing menu for post-event reports and your records.
Everything is auditable
Edits to laps are logged with their history, so you can see what was changed.
